WINNER for Best eGov Initiative – The Malta eBusiness Awards 2020: Digital Logbook – HandsOn Systems
The Ministry for Energy And Water Management embarked on a project to convert the old trip logbook to a fully digital and online one. All trips involving the use of ministry owned vehicles were logged manually on a paper-based system. This was prone to errors, abuse, and inaccuracy due to the fact that it depended heavily on human intervention.
The Ministry together with HandsOn Systems transformed this logbook into a complete digital solution. All trips are now pre-booked online or through an app, approved, and then assigned to various drivers or vehicles based on their availability. The solution does not only allow the Ministry to have more control over the use of their vehicles but automates the reporting needed to comply with a number of policies and standards.
The solution also o๏ฌers route optimisation and a navigation tool for drivers. The intention of the Ministry is to roll this out to all the Ministries, thus saving a lot of money to the government by optimising the transport service within all the government.
